Michael Hussey

Michael Edward Killeen Hussey, was born May 27 th , 1975. Hussey made his test debut in November 2005 v West Indies at The Gabba, Brisbane. It wasn't the best of starts as he only scored a single but, followed that with 137 in his second match.

He became the fastest player to score 1000 Test runs, completing it in an amazing 166 days. He is not the most flamboyant, of batsmen but, he sure is a grafter. Micheal is a caresser of the ball, rather than being a big booming hitter. Now sponsored by Kookaburra, he grew up as an opening batsman but for Australia, he hovers around at 4.

At 6 ft tall, until recently he was the only player to average over 50 in both Test and One day cricket, having scored nearly 9000 runs for Australia.

He is renowned for his hard work ethics, former Aussie skipper Allan Border, once joked he should get match practice by staying in the nets for a full six hours, to everyone's surprise, he did just that.
