England And The Rugby World Cup

England And The Rugby World Cup

, 1 min reading time

At last, The Rugby World Cup has started in New Zealand and the hype can stop. Players can now show us how good they are instead of just talking about it. Will this be the world cup where New Zealand show the world they are indeed the best team in the world, rather than just between tournaments. I believe they will win and win comfortably, indeed this competition needs them to progress to at least the semi's, to sustain the interest and keep the grounds full. England start their campaign tomorrow, against strong opponents, Argentina. Always hard to beat, they play with their hearts and usually attempt to stop the opposition from playing, rather than beating them with flare and skill. Tomorrow's game will not be pretty, it will be painful to watch and will end up with quite a few players struggling to make the next game. Some of the press are already claiming, that if England lose they will be struggling to qualify for the knock out stages. That, of course, is nonsense. With weaker opponents to come, tomorrows game is a good test for both sides to show the rest of the world, how good they can be. But defeat will be just that, one game lost. The other 3 games will be games where squad rotation will get a look in, as players recover from such a still opening game. England, have made the rugby World Cup final in the last two world cups and are stronger than 2007. They have a good chance of progressing to the final again and opponents will be wrong to dismiss them as easy prey. Argentina are stronger now, as they are getting valuable experience playing in the southern hemisphere. Enjoy the 2011 world cup and expect the Kiwi's to be carrying the Webb Ellis trophy in six weeks time. Get your rugby world cup replica ball from Sports Ball Shop
