It seems like a long time since we had a new range of balls to shout about. Of course Mitre had a whole re-launch earlier this year but that was to completely replace their current range of balls. Molten though have become the official ball supplier to the Europa League and have a new range of balls to compliment their sponsorship, of this premium European competition. Molten haven't wasted time in thinking up meaningless names for the balls and have stuck with some catchy numbers to identify the balls. Who knows which method is best? The training balls are the Molten 1000 range and are available in sizes 3, 4 and 5. Then there are a range of match balls to suit all budgets starting with the 1710 as the budget match ball again available in sizes 3, 4 and 5, the 2810 is a seriously good match ball suitable for most levels of play in size 4 and 5, the 3400 is a premium mid range match ball and then we have the 3600 which is one of the best match balls we have seen this year. The pinnacle ball though is the Molten Official Europa League match ball and is called 5003, this ball will be used in all of the group stage matches. The graphics are exactly the same throughout the range and are quite striking. The surface material and texture is slightly different on each model - the training balls are smooth and the Official match ball has a dimple effect similar to a golf ball.
