    Lusum Lusum SoftAir Cricket Ball Orange

    The Lusum SoftAir cricket ball is a soft-touch training ball. The SoftAir ball comes in orange only and is a great quality ball for use in batting, bowling, and fielding drills. The soft feature of the ball ensures players do not get hurt when hit by the ball and can be used to develop skills over a longer period of time. These Lusum Cricket Balls have a raised seam around the ball to give the feel of a real cricket ball to bowlers working on their grip and seam position. Very similar to the Readers Windball and Slazenger Air Ball. As with these balls, the Lusum SoftAir ball is a training aid ball - the adult SoftAir ball weighs 88g (3.1 oz), and the youth SoftAir ball weighs 74g (2.6oz). In the guide "What Size Ball Do I Need?" the weights refer to hard cricket balls.

Lusum Cricket Balls

The word Lusum was chosen as it means 'Play' or 'Game' in Latin. When choosing the names of the Lusum balls, as the name of the company was in Latin, ranks of the Roman army would be used, to not only name the ball but to also give it a rank within the range. All balls from the Lusum ranges are ranked as follows
Munifex = Training ball
Optio = Match ball
Aquilifer = Elite/Performance ballThe starting level or training ball is known as the Munifex and is the equivalent rank to a private. The Optio is a rank that is 2nd in command within his Century . He is selected by the Centurion and as he would be his number 2, Lusum selected the Optio as their second top quality ball.
The Aquilifer is a Roman Standard Bearer and is the best quality ball.
