Today sees the launch of the SPORTSBALLSHOP 'Performance of the week' award. Every week we will be scouring the world for the best sporting achievements. From within our coaches, sales team and sports enthusiasts, we have formed a panel of experts that will ultimately decide the winner. If you feel their is a sporting performance that needs to be considered then email it in or leave a message. We will be looking at local, National and World sport to narrow it down to the best of the week. This week we had a couple of nominations from our members but, this week we feel there can only be one winner (well every week there can only be one winner but, this week it is an obvious choice. the nominations this week were narrowed down to:- Oxford United's mid week, 2 - 1 victory at league leaders, Chesterfield had a few votes, after 5 straight defeats. They are still near the bottom of Football league division 2 though. At the 16th Asian Games, the Men's Volleyball competition reached the semi-final stages this week. The amazing comeback by Japan over Korea in the Semi's after being two sets down was remarkable. They came back to win the match 3 - 2 and then went on to win the final 3 - 1, beating Iran. BUT, the Sportsballshop 'Performance of the week' must go to Aussie Peter Siddle. With England looking relatively comfortable at 197 for 4, the game has possibly changed, to give Australia the edge. Ten mad minutes saw Siddle take the wickets of Cook, Prior and Broad, in an atmosphere that was electric. Siddle said after the first day "It was hard to take in but, it is great, to start the Ashes Series on a high". Cricket matches like the Ashes series, make Peter Siddle's hat trick extra special. Well done Peter Siddle, congratulations on winning our first 'Performance of the Week' award. If you have any nominations for next weeks award please let us know, it can be professional or amateur sport. When nominating please state your reasons.
