This week we have been inundated with nominations for the second Sportsballshop 'Performance of the week'. This award is shorlisted by our team of experts from nomination by you. They can be from local amateur clubs or international proffesional ones. Anything goes as we whittle the achievements down to our final 3. The bad weather in the UK meant we had no nominations from amateur sport at all, this week. Come on guys lets get those local sides recognised. After the UK, we have had most nominations from Switzerland. Guess who was nominated? So, after having 36 different sporting achievements brought to our attention, we shook the snow form our boots and narrowed it down to our final 3..... 3rd place went to crickets Alistair Cook. It is amazing how quickly he has turned his form around, from it being suggested he may not even go to the Ashes to his fantastic knock in Queensland. When England declared, he was on 235 not out and we all agreed, that is the best we have seen him bat. 2nd place went to Roger Federer. He was nominated most this week, 14 times. He won the ATP World Tour Tennis Final, in London, for the 5th time, beating Rafa Nadal, 6-3 3-6 6-1. Worringly for all of his rivals he was heard to say after this great victory, "So it's been an amazing career. At the moment I have no plans at all stopping, quitting, whatever you want to call it. I hope I can play for many more years. It's a goal anyway, I think it's possible." Don't be suprised to see him win again next year. The winner this week is.....Dimitar Berbatov. His five goal haul in Manchester United's 7 - 1 thrashing of Blackburn, is only the fourth time since 1992, that it has happened, in the Premiership. Andy Cole, Alan Shearer and Jermaine Defoe are the other nap hands. It is a such a rare event, in Football, that we felt it was the only one we could declare as the winner this week. Next weeks nominations close on Thursday night, so get them votes in. Enjoy your sporting week.
