Hold on it's not as extreme as the launch of the new K5-IKF but yes the IKF is to release another new korfball. This time however, it will complement the range rather than create problems for clubs. You will probably remember the K5-IKF was released in Europe before the UK had any stock. Then it was announced that the new ball would be the official ball for the new season, forcing cash starved clubs to invest more funds in new balls.
Now we have a new ball for the junior market, with the launch of the K3-IKF. This ball has also been developed by Mikasa and will be available from Sports ball shop very soon. The K3-IKF will be smaller in size and lighter but will retain the new blue and yellow colours, currently so popular in the korfball community.
The size of the new korfball will be 59cm to 60cm and will weigh between 310g to 330g. Compared to size 4 and 5 balls this will ensure the game is now able to go into schools and hopefully a new generation of korfballers will be born.
